- VOLUME always wins
VOLUME always wins
Why posting content is like playing the lottery
Yo!
So this is the first week where I genuinely have no pictures to show for lol.
It doesn’t mean that it was a boring or uneventful week.
I was still out and about doing my thing and enjoying the week in my hometown.
I went through my camera roll and the only thing in there from the week were draft videos of me talking for content purposes.
This week taught me one important lesson.
It’s that life VOLUME always wins.
Everything is a numbers game.
Whether it’s regarding sales, content creation, or picking up a girl lol.
The more you do something, the better you become at it, increasing your chances of achieving your goals and striking gold.
Concepts that focus on quality such as the 80/20 principle can still apply to some scenarios.
And there are times when quality could give you the edge.
But it’s not until you master the quantity game that you can even consider delving deeper into the quality of whatever it may be.
The example I’ll be talking about today is content creation.
Feel free to think of something else if it may be more applicable to you.
Content creation has become a major branch of my business and day-to-day.
I also think it is illustrative of why quantity will almost always put you ahead of others fixated on quality.
For starters, most people are always waiting for this imaginary “perfect time” in their heads.
To post their first reel.
To make a YouTube channel.
To decide to ultimately go all in on content creation.
And if you’re reading this, you probably know already that there is no perfect time for anything.
Your mind will always rationalize for a reason not to post that video.
“Ugh .. my voice was too monotone"
“Dammit .. the lighting was off”
There will always be a reason why you think your videos can do better.
Which could be true.
But guess what?
The only way you will ever learn is through volume and iteration.
I want to explain to you why:
The game of content creation = the lottery
One video = one lottery ticket
By posting one video a week for a year, you will have purchased 52 lottery tickets.
Post one video a day? That’s 365 lottery tickets.
That’s a dramatic difference, isn’t it?
Each lottery ticket is your chance to go viral.
It’s an opportunity to jump from 1k followers to 10k followers overnight.
But in order to ever seize that opportunity, you have to play the numbers game.
You will never know which piece of content will be the winning ticket.
And ironically enough, the winning tickets tend to be the ones you least expect.
That’s just the name of the game.
You either play the game or sit on the sidelines and watch.
And the ones sitting on the sidelines are not only the doomscrollers.
It’s also the people posting 1-3 times a week, expecting to see any sort of virality.
It’s possible, but the odds are stacked against you.
Ever since I’ve had this mindset shift, I’ve started to go from daily reels to posting reels twice a day.
I’ve only made this switch as of yesterday.
But I’ve seen this strategy play out in real-time.
Many of my favorite content creators are posting even more than twice a day.
I’m talking, three, four maybe even five times a day.
They’re essentially treating it like their own personal journal.
Whether they have a team editing their videos or not is irrelevant.
That’s up to you to figure out and delegate if you wish to do so.
The fact of the matter is that you will consistently get lapped if you don’t play the volume game.
Anyways, folks, that’s it for this week.
The lesson of the week is to stop caring so much about what other people think.
Matter of fact, care less about what you think too.
We tend to be our worst critic.
Post, post, post, and don’t look back.
And if content creation isn’t your thing then apply this mental model to whatever “your thing” may be
Go up to that girl or guy.
Get rejected?
On to the next.
Nothing can stop you if you keep going.
You got this legend.
Take care.
Much luv,
Jared
