What if it's better than you ever imagined?
Key takeaways from my first week in Bali
For those who don’t know, I recently made the move to venture across the world and arrive in paradise, AKA Bali. It’s been quite a hectic month for me, starting off with a flight to Rome and traveling around Europe. To now a week ago, saying goodbye to Amsterdam and spending nearly a day on a plane to arrive in Bali.
This move I made to come to Bali wasn’t an easy one. It was a big financial investment and commitment that I was unsure if I was ready for. I was initially second-guessing it and suffered a little bit from imposture syndrome. I was questioning if I was at that stage where I deserved to be here.
“Did I put enough hours into my work where this feels right?
“Is this the right move for me at this stage?”
I was hesitant but I listened to the voice inside that guided me here. The voice that embraces risk and discomfort. The one that seeks change and is up for any challenge.
And whether I feel like I’m ready for Bali or not, I will truly never know until I’m here. New experiences like this one truly shape and build your identity. It naturally scrapes off old belief systems and perceptions to form new ones. Certain ideas you had about yourself or the world in which you clinged on to, slowly crumble into pieces. The world is so big, you and I both know that. But not until you buy that plane ticket and make it to another side of the world, you will never truly understand. Your mind will continuously limit your perception until you intentionally change your environment and surroundings. You will continue to think small if you’re around the same faces and places.
I’ve officially decided to come down here until the end of the year. And being only 5 days in, I can tell you it’s been the best decision ever. Between the people, food, energy, low cost of living, beautiful sights, .. I can go on and on about why this place seems to check off all the boxes. I’ve taken a moment to pause every now and then to pinch myself and take it all in. A question that I have been thinking a lot about is:
“What if it’s better than I could ever imagine?”.
Because I really didn’t expect this place to be as magical as it is.
From my limited time here, I can confidently say that Bali is a place for virtually everyone from all walks of life. The number one reason why I decided to come here wasn’t for the weather, food, or beautiful sights.
It was for the people.
The sense of community and belonging.
And the energy.
Being here, I’ve already had tons of authentic, genuine interactions with so many unique individuals. Between the plethora of events and opportunities going on every day, there are endless opportunities to delve deeper into different areas from business, spirituality, fitness, etc.
Anyway, I’m gonna stop raving about this place because, at the end of the day, it’s more of a feeling than anything. It’s not something you can explain but something you have to experience. My intention behind this journal entry is to not only share my initial thoughts here but to hopefully inspire you to pull the trigger.
Make the move.
Purchase the one-way plane ticket.
Go to that mastermind.
Invest in an experience because I can promise you that your future self will thank you. Lastly, I wanted to share a raw, unfiltered life/biz update from yours truly.
Life/biz update:
As I now enter Q4, I’ve started to feel a shift slowly transpiring in my life. A shift to re-align with my purpose and why I’m doing what I’m doing in the first place. That shift is one that I can’t fight or resist. I have to welcome it with open arms and embrace it even if it may be uncomfortable. I can’t tell you what or how everything will transpire but all I know is that I’ve entered a season of change. As we welcome in the fall and leaves start to fall, I’ve begun to sense the same for myself. Certain leaves that perhaps I’ve hung on for too long will soon have to be let go. This way, I can surrender to the change and have new ideas and perspectives flow through me. All I can say is that even though I’m “living that lifestyle”, I’m still figuring things out like you. I’m excited to embark on this new road ahead and I couldn’t be more grateful to bring you along the ride with me. Talk soon.
PS: I’ve just announced the IRL Bali retreat in December for our last experience to close out the year, check out @theirlexperience on IG if you’re interested in hearing more :)
Much luv,
Jared
